He is just irredeemable... and I think that was his version of a reward. Positive reinforcement to go along with the punishment. Very, very basic, but still useful. He wants to "bring her to heel"/own her, so he doesn't want her frightened of him. Of disobeying him, yes of course, but not him... So once she's truly sorry, he does something nice for her--(from his pov, anyway).

"seductive and firm and powerful and..." covers what Slade is very nicely, yes. (Also evil as sin, hard as a blade, and despicably pleased with himself...)
