Now for Roy and Dick. Seeing inside Roy's head as he experienced his first moments as a meta was great, and watching him process Dick's fury was very well handled.

I'm glad Roy comes right out and says this. It needed to be said by both Slade and Roy, that it was Roy's choice to stand beside Dick and protect him.
I repeat, Roy knows how to handle Dick, and yeah, it did.
The fact that it was Roy's logic that helped bring Dick down from his rage induced high was a good thing. He needed Roy to explain why and he needed to see things without the blinders he had built for himself.
Roy's the only person that could have, at this point. Dinah wouldn't bother, Rose wouldn't understand, Lian's just a baby, and at this point he'd still be likely to deck Slade.
"Dick shook his head. "Slade didn't give me much of a choice. Yes or no, in or out, choose right now... Not like I could say no.""
*Lightbulb* Ooh, now I know why you went and--yeah. You agree?
"//Yes you could have,// sat on the tip of his tongue, but he choked it back. He understood, after all, he had a streak of that same defiant fear himself..."
This is an excellent synopsis of what drove Dick into Slade's arms in the first place. Very well written and handled.

hehe, I saw Roy as such the mother hen in this paragraph. Glad they ended on a good note.
Roy is kind of a mama-hen (papa-hen?), when he needs to be. I think it comes with being a single parent, or something. *considers the long list of canon things Roy has done to protect/take care of Dick over the years and smiles* He's used to it. And yeah, they're okay...
