Mmmm. So much yah! My favorite part, of course, was quite predictably the Dick and Roy bit. They were so - comfortable - with one another, so able to work and know each others' working habits. They're such . . .partners.
Oh. And the threesome smut was yummy-rific, too. *g*
Bits I loved:
The teasing note that Dinah left was cute. Very playful and yet still showed her unwillingness to be pushed around by anyone - including the Big Bad Bat.
But it was a really great effect to see that thing just explode... hell I never even saw her move."
*g* I love this - it shows Roy's "aww, damn, the woman who taught me how to fight is cool" awe. And, yes, Roy, she is. *g*
He shook his head, amused by the fact that she was willing to tease him *chuckle.* I love Dick's thoughts in this scene, too. They alternate nicely between "she's crazy" to "she's also pretty damn cool."
Roy chuckled. "Yeah...she used my phone the whole week she was in New York." Roy slipped up behind him, kissing on his neck, tasting the adrenaline in his sweat. "Good kid, though. She really knows her stuff."
Dick reached back and smacked at his thigh lightly even as he pressed back into the kiss. "I'd expect nothing less... and stop that, I'm working..." That might have been what he said, but the reaction didn't back it up, and neither did the tone.
Awww. They're such good big brothers, comparing notes on lil' bro and sis.
Also, Dick, tease much?
"oh, shit," Dick breathed at that calm tone and grabbed Roy's hand to get the hell out of the Cave fast. *g* I love that it's Bruce's calm tone that serves as a warning. Seems perfectly reasonable.
Dinah shrugged, holding a hand up. I love that unlike everyone else, Dinah is not at all impressed/concerned with the impending Bat explosion, even though she recognizes that it's coming.
And missing the transmitter/her link with Oracle was a beautiful touch that showed how strong the connection between these two women were, even in a universe in which they aren't lovers.
/So why the hell did you decide to pretend you're invulnerable, is Diana rubbing off on you or something, I'd expect that from her,// flashed through his mind, but remained unspoken. *chuckles, for reasons that may become clear later.* And poor Bruce really doesn't know what to do with the infuriating woman's "logic." Poor guy. Also, this spoke to me about the kinship these three *extremely human* mortals have, outside of their relationship, that binds them together.
He knew if it had been himself, Dinah's temper would have flared…and yet, it seemed to be perfectly natural for her to take the calm path with the Bat instead.
I just adore the way that defines the very different, very complex dynamics between the three of them.
"Do better next time?" was the closest he would let himself come.
"Does it help to know that Shiva forced me through several anti-toxin routines?" My mind laughs merrily at the fact that this isn't at all a "Yes."
Ah, the actual smut. Consider the whole thing quoted. It really was many degrees of fabulous. Especially Oracle interrupting. *g* //Go away, Barbara.// *snicker.*
Dinah tore away from the kiss to look at him. "Girl?" she asked dangerously. "I seem to think I've far outgrown the 'kiddo' stage," she told him with a challenging look. *Claps.* Oh, Dinah, I really, really LOVE you sometimes.
Also, I adore that it was Dinah who really needed to know that the Bruce's kiddies weren't overly freaked out by their relationship. It's so very Maternal!Dinah. Also, Dinah wanting their relationship to be *real* and worrying that it was just a holiday thing was a lovely insight into her.
In sum, I utterly adored this fic. It was, as all of the fics in this 'verse have been, an utter delight and joy to read, and I look forward to seeing more in this verse.
