I've finally come down off the complete and utter high the movie put me in, and now I have all these thinky-things buzzing through my brain. This post much more intended for those who have seen the movie, as it will be uber-spoilery.

thinky-thing one: Bee is a kickass advance scout, and I wish I knew how long he'd been on earth. Because I don't think we ever had any clues about that. And that he had to communicate with humans through clips of songs and broadcasts because of old battle damage... is an interesting thing, when Bee was one of the chattiest of the Gen 1s.

think-thing two: it... hurts me, to have an Optimus Prime that can kill so easily. I mean... I understand why. He's been doing this for so. very. long, and I guess they've never found a way to talk/coax any of the Decepticons back to their side, so the logic of it makes sense...

But my Optimus couldn't even kill Megatron, when he had him down. So an Optimus that can, and yet still has all of his faith and belief in good, in freedom... *hugs one of his fingers soverytight*

thinky-thing three: I violently disagree with the idea that we didn't get characterization/personality for the Autobots. I think my reasons about Optimus are displayed above. You see Jazz's cheerfulness and faith, Ironhide's old-soldier, Ratchet's longing for a more peaceful way, Bee's playfulness... and not just in what they say, but how they move.

Jazz dances, and plays, and kicks back... and argues so hard with Optimus that they have to find some way to save Bee.

Ironhide is gruff and battle-scarred and can't let go of the weapons he's used so long (did we ever see him completely transform them away in robot-form), and can't quite understand why Optimus is so determined to protect these little organic lives, but he'll do as he's commanded.

Ratchet, I'll admit, got kind of short shrift, but... Ratchet was always the most pacifist, and look what a warrior their struggle has turned him into. He was the one that most hated the brutality of their war--and you can still see that he hates it even as he's fighting so hard.

thinky-thing four: the Decepticons, on the other hand...

...didn't act like the Decepticons I know. and that worries me a little.

We saw no bicker. No backtalk, no jockeying for position... and that united "All Hail Megatron?"

Megatron wasn't even unfrozen yet, to hear them. Um.... there's something wrong there. *shakes head*

I'm wondering if whatever Megatron did when he betrayed the Autobots... warped all of the Decepticons somehow, and that's why they're not... the way they ought to be.

Or if it was just the limited budget meaning they shorted the bad guys screen time.

Thoughts? Elfcat?

thinky-thing five: so nice that they bucked the stereotype of the military being the un-trusting ones about the Autobots. I liked that a LOT. *hugs the captain*

hm... more thinky-things as I come to them.

ETA: discussion very welcome.
