I love all parts of the Happy Verse, but this broke my brain every bit as much as THE KON. I've. . .given up hope this will ever happen in canon, and givne the crappiness of the current staff, it's probably a good thing. Barry can remain pure and untouched, and great fucking mindwipes aside. But oh. I adore it happening in fan fic. So utterly much.

Yeah, I have no hope that we'll get him back in canon ever either, and must agree that it's probably best that way. And Bruce says that Barry was heartsick, hurting, and not entirely sane at that point, and therefore his desire and choice to protect the rest of the heroes from the pain he had suffered is understandable. Not laudable, but understandable.
