Title: Memory's Folly
Word count: 350
Character: Roy Harper
Continuity: Current canon
Warning: Tissues might be a good thing
Feedback: Is love
Summary: Just another morning... right
Roy opened his eyes at the sound of cabinets opening in the kitchen, and took a slow breath at the body draped half over his in the bed. //Wh--oh. Kendra.// He shifted, trying to slip out from under her without waking her... but she was as hero as he was, and her eyes came open. "Hmm?"
//Pretty sound...// he thought at her sleepy noise, and answered. "Lian's awake."
He slid out of the bed and reached into a dresser drawer for clothes, boxers and then the first shirt that came to his hand, and he turned back to the bed, dropping enough to kiss her lightly. As he pulled away, her face went curious. "You went to Hudson?"
He looked down at the shirt, confused, then saw the color of it and knew he was still too asleep to keep the reaction off his face as he tried to bury the lash of stabbing pain enough to answer her.
"No, Di--" and he edited his words automatically as he realized she didn't know, couldn't know that name. "Nightwing did," he finished, swallowing against an ache in his throat that shouldn't still be there. He tried to push the memory away of grabbing fast for clothing, trying to be sodamnquiet as they scrambled for decency, of Dick's low, pleased laugh of 'it looks better on you, keep it.' Weeks later, hands sliding in under the shirt and up, low purr in his ear of, 'yeah, I get it, damn you look good in my shirt... but... better without it...' as he turned into those hands and kissed his lover again... Wearing it deliberately, in front of people, seeing Dick's eyes light at knowing what it meant when no-one else would...
//Over, that's over, let it go, he has!// he snarled at himself as he dropped down to kiss her fully, hands sliding over her hard-muscled almost-perfect so female body, pulling himself away from the memories that didn't matter anymore... and almost managed it, by the time he pulled out of the long kiss to go check on his daughter.
