Fic: Reminders
Title: Reminders
Characters: Maj. W.R. Wintergreen, Ret.; Joe Wilson.
Word count: 100
Continuity: Joe's about... sixteen. So... pre The New Teen Titans.
He's never seen the blank slate of Adeline's fury in her son's expression, oddly. When Joseph is angry, which is rare, the green goes hot, vividly sharp, and his jaw tightens into an expression he has seen far too often on another face.
There are moments Wintergreen wonders why the consummate professional that Adeline Wilson is has never tried to train that very blatant tell out of the son she's otherwise trained so well... then he remembers Adeline has fewer things to remind her of the man she does still love despite herself than he does, these days, and understands.

Didn't feel like cutting for just a drabble.
When Wintergreen starts chattering in the back of my head, I pay attention.

Wintergreen's ideas of blatant aren't exactly the same as the rest of the world's, he might be overstating a bit. And Slade never bothered to train himself out of the same habit, after all.
*points at icon* Boy looks so much like his daddy.

Joe is absolutely the child of both of his parents.
He used to be proud of that.
