TM Prompt 243: Olympics
Aug. 14th, 2008 11:02 pm"If you could be in the Olympics (summer or winter), what event/sport would you want to do most? Why?"
That's a bit ridiculous a question to ask me.
It's not as though I could compete, for multiple reasons. For one thing, I'm far too recognizable, and the last thing I need is for one of the countries I'm still wanted in to attempt to get hold of me while being quite that public. That would get messy, and probably annoy my wife extremely. Given a bad enough day, they might even get somewhere with it, at least temporarily. For another thing, I'm fairly certain they bar meta-humans from competition. This is in some ways foolish as there are several meta-human gifts that would be useless in competitions like the Olympics... but in my case, that ruling is perfectly understandable. After what happened to make me, well... me, I'd have a decidedly unfair advantage in any event on the Olympic program. And even if for some reason they waived that rule, why would I? It would hardly be a challenge in any fashion.
Before the end of the war, I would have been easily able to compete and place in the shooting events, or judo. There are few people who shoot as well as I do--and then there's my wife, who's better. At least on pistol.
