*makes note to remind Filly that Ass!Dick does not belong in this timeline.*
But I'm very fond of Filly's ASS!Dick. :(
He mentioned Ollie 'cause Slade doesn't like Ollie.
That's. . . Go get 'em, Roy Oh, that hurts. Especially since I know what an ASS Bruce is going to be about his "logical assumption" elsewhere in this timeline. OUCH.
I gotta know, why so much owch? What did we manage to do that we didn't realize?
Oh, I know that Roy was motivated by bringing up Ollie because Slade doesn't like Ollie. But, there are a gazillion things that Slade doesn't like, or that Roy knows about and could have picked, if he really wanted to. What this scene meant to me is this: despite everything that's happened between them, Ollie's still Dad and at least a part of Roy is clinging to Ollie as a safety net - a place that Roy thinks of when the chips are down.
It hit me the same way Roy's comment in Archer's Quest about "He draws his weapon, so I draw mine," (paraphrase) did.
Because, OH, ROY. you really never stop loving anyone, do you. It'd be better for you if you could learn how, though.
I hope that makes sense?
I don't think it's wrong. 'Course, I hate the DCU's stance that killing=evil, mindrape=thing heroes do, too.
