Mmm. So much to love, so little time to gush.

You give great gushing.

I really enjoyed Dick's sense of not wanting to drag Roy down with him. //This isn't what I wanted, I just wanted you safe you're better than this you're better--// all flashed through his head, possibly through his eyes, "I didn't--I don't--" along with //Goddamn it, that was government work and it nearly killed you, yes I want you with me but not-like-this... You're not the murderer here, my own...// just drove home both a.) the love that I already knew was there and b.) The feeling that, underneath it all, there's still some of OUR Dick left. And that casts a beautiful, bittersweet shadowy feeling over this whole story.

Yeah... isn't that the biggest goddamned kick in the teeth? That underneath all of Renegade's everything is Robbie?

Lian should always, always demand hugs from her uncle. I'm possibly biased on that end, though.

*grins* Yes, she should.

'"It's a good plan--which means something is going to go wrong early... and hey, it's one less damned drug dealer. Suits me."
//No it doesn't, it can't... that's not my Roy--(no, this is what you've done to him),//'

Just fabulous characterization. Of them both.

Thank you, for that.

Slade thinking that Dick and Roy could have been Grant and Joey really, really tugged at my heart.

Yeeeah. That one hurt a lot.

Kudos, btw, on the mission details/discussion.

Thank you! That was difficult, I'm glad it worked!

See, Dinah's a nicer person than I am. Because, you know, Slade isn't ever going to apologize for breaking *her.* Guilt's a powerful motivator, though. Still, Slade? Given the drug you used on Dinah in this chapter, your "holier than thou" attitude towards the League's (stupid) actions is going to be a bit hard to swallow, being that a mind screw is a mind screw.

Dinah's a nicer person than I am, too. Yup, guilt does sure as hell work wonders.

*headtilt* I think Filly hit this one, but I'm going to take my stab at it, too. That you think the two are equivalent actually startles me.

Slade didn't drug her unknowing, for one--which to me at least makes a hell of a lot of difference. He may have yanked at her guilt to acquire her agreement, but she agreed... and look at what he actually did and why he did it. He put her under temporary hypnosis, with her agreement, in order to be able to use the skills she has that he values.

Also, he did absolutely nothing to change her permanently. He could have, given what he dosed her with, but he deliberately did not. ...Just a liiiittle different than what her League did. Despite everything he has against her, despite what she'd just done--he protected her, and valued her, and her abilities...

Still, this is an interesting development in the continuing downfall of Dinah. I'm intrigued to see how it all shakes out.

This has done wonderful things for Dinah, actually.

Black Adam is very, very cool. I loved the voice he had in this story as well. "The one who died?" Black Adam clarified. "That fits with what we know." His visage was stormy. "I do not like protecting rapists. I despise working with that psychotic little midget, and now to learn our opening gambit was made to protect a cowardly rapist." *Chuckle.*

Yeah, I adored that. SOOO much.

//This isn't poison. ...Slade wanted me to step up... I think this counts.//

*Claps,* and Yena should know why.

*knows exactly why* Claps, yes? Success? *SQUEE!!*

I enjoyed the tenseness of the Dick and Dinah scene, as well as the possible revelations about/concerning Luthor.

They make such a good team when they're not trying to slice each other into tiny little ribbons...

But my favorite line in the whole story was this: Still, they both knew how to work with people they hated; Guy had taught her that skill years ago. *snicker.*

Glad to know Filly makes both of us laugh.
