Continuing the current RP-plot

Deep in the depths of sleep, a nightmare building in his mind, Slade half-noticed movement that did not fit the dreams, sounds that were not the ones of batt--

Instead, there was solid, strong warmth against his back, against his chest... His senses all said he was safe, and the nightmare that had been trying to build was chased away by gentle, known, familiar hands, and light voices that reassured him. He half-woke, looked, and settled into sleep again, without ever fully coming to grips with his surroundings change.

It would be several hours more before he would start to wake again, and that not due to nightmares, but more because his body simply would not let him sleep longer.

Not that his conscious mind was engaged yet. No, only the senses and instincts spoke, telling him of familiar scents against his chest, his back; familiar sounds of beloved heartbeats and breath; feel of his wife in his arms and his partner behind him.... //Dreaming... I have to be..//

Part of me thinks it strange, how easy it might be to simply fall asleep here, listening to them breathing. I have known Wintergreen nearly as long as I have known Slade. Impossible to be uncomfortable in his company, even under such unusual circumstances.

Tilt my head enough to kiss Slade's shoulder in response to his own kiss, brushing my mouth over the already-fading marks my hands left on him.

"Lazy as I feel, and much as I want more, I truly should rise. Poor Joseph looked frazzled when he escaped our tempers yesterday, and there is dear Rose to consider." He snorted softly. "Plus, Jessica will be on the verge of sending Michael to find me."

Slade growled unhappily at Wintergreen's too-awake voice, and clung to his shoulder a little tighter. He wasn't going to win this, after all, Wintergreen was right, but he didn't want to move yet.

I can sympathize with Slade's unwillingness to let Wintergreen move. I as well should not indulge the wish to stay. Wintergreen's return had been, while pleasant and something I am grateful for, a distraction from plans I had set in motion. Letting them sit without me is not the wisest course of action.
