Sacrosanct principles, hm?
*thoughtful expression, and the touch of pen to paper*
I'm a long way from that sixteen year old boy that bucked his C.O. when given the order to kill civilian women and children... but even still, that's probably one of the principles I still hold hardest to. Though I'll admit that over the years, with some occassionally... strong--
*quick flash of a wry smile in Wintergreen's direction before he put the pen back against the paper and kept writing, other possible choices of words discarded along the way*
--correction, it has changed a little in form. These days, it goes more along the lines of "never harm a non-combatant, but remember that anyone can become one, and chronological age has little or nothing to do with it." I ought to be more abashed than I am that it took a couple of times of nearly getting killed by kids younger than Grant had been when he died to force that lesson on me... but even I do learn sometimes.
But if I ever get an offer on any of the pieces of filth that are putting guns in the hands of Africa's children... well. That's a job I'd be more than pleased to take. Africa may have chosen Wintergreen, but she's been a good home to me, and seeing what's happened to her....
*he gave up on the paper then, and left it laying where it was to go check on a report that had just come in, leaning in over Wintergreen's shoulder*
