From here.
Slade shook his head and picked up his cell phone, sending a text meassage to his son, daughter, wife, and lover, just in case any of them decided to come by the penthouse in the next couple of hours. [Ex-robin crashed on the couch.]
//Now, start thinking about how in hell you're going to explain to Wintergreen that you offered the boy a job, Wilson.//

Re: rethread
Date: 2008-10-15 02:18 am (UTC)"I wouldn't much like the mask, though I can see why ya wore it." he kept his opinions about all the good it'd done solidly behind his teeth. "I hated my stupid helmet thing, so I stopped wearing it. I'm back to my identity band-aid mask, not that anybody knows or cares who I am... although I still don't really exist in the system."
Re: rethread
Date: 2008-10-15 02:27 am (UTC)"Mmm. I am not surprised that you're not. That's not that hard to fix, if you've got access to a decent hacker. Expensive, but do-able. And you'd need it to be able to travel."
Re: rethread
Date: 2008-10-15 02:40 am (UTC)"Yeah." Jason agreed. He knew if he wanted he could have everything he needed from Babs in a few minutes, but, travelling, well... oh, fuck it, he'd drug himself... "I don't travel real well." hell, he didn't like cars!
Re: rethread
Date: 2008-10-15 02:45 am (UTC)"No, not with that claustrophobia, you wouldn't." Slade said it matter-of-factly, neither dismissive or overly sympathetic. "Especially not mass-transit. Good thing I hate it too, I guess. Too easy to forget where I am, and... over-react."
Re: rethread
Date: 2008-10-15 02:55 am (UTC)Jay shrugged, "I don't remember the last time I travelled... Talia'd drug me before we went anywhere, and so'd Hush, if I gotta I can just do that again." he hated being drugged, but he could deal with it...
Probably.
"Yeah, you flipping out on a subway wouldn't be pretty." he said, "'Specially since even when you're 'civillian' you're probably a walkin' talkin' arsenal."
Re: rethread
Date: 2008-10-15 02:58 am (UTC)He had to chuckle at the truth of the boy's last statement. "It's not, and I am. Old soldiers don't get to be that way by being complacent, or unarmed."
Re: rethread
Date: 2008-10-15 03:10 am (UTC)"No, old soldiers don't ever really stop being who they are, I guess." he said softly.
Good soldiers die.Re: rethread
Date: 2008-10-15 03:13 am (UTC)"You all right, brat?" he asked at the way the boy went pale.
