Choosing Unwisely

This takes off immediately after the last scene with Deathstroke in Inheritance by Devin Greyson. Yes, that does mean it's going to diverge from the final few pages of the book. Don't ask me where my bunnies hop out of, it's probably a circle of hell.

Date: 2006-06-10 04:09 am (UTC)I liked how Dick kept flashing back to Roy while he and Ollie were getting into it. Their body build would be very similar because they are both archers. Loved it.
Loved how you wrote Roy more though. The surprise, the hurt, the anger. The idea of loosing himself in his former drug habit and then having the will to force the urge away.
I also liked how he could't truly be mad at Dick and how he felt guilty about causing Dick to slip into a state of shock.
I really liked being inside Dick's head for that brief period of time and the way Ollie snapped him out of it was truly Ollie.
Great job.

*beams* From you, who nails Roy every time she writes him, that means a very great deal. Thank you... That went from emotion to fingers without stopping to let my brain think about it. It was probably the fastest segment I wrote in the entire thing. Which is a little odd.
Mm. *nods* Yeah. he loves him too damned much.
*grins* Yeah... that was the fastest/best way i could think of to portray what happened to them... and Ollie was doing what he does best, going with his gut.
Thank you, again!

Date: 2006-06-11 02:42 pm (UTC)The other thing that really struck me was your amazingly good detail of the costumes. You manage to make them come to life in a way that seems realistic and yet stays true to the actual design in the comics, which is intensely difficult to pull off. I felt like I was there for the undoing of every strap and buckle in the complex outfits the heroes were in, though. It was simply stunning from start to finish.

Dick's issues should not be *that* hot. Boy, is that wrong. Nicely done.

Thank you again!

Date: 2006-07-04 01:03 am (UTC)Poor Roy. I really liked the voice you gave him though.
Poor Dick, even though he needed beaten. He . . . oh, he's just messed up- with the Roy AND Batman issues that kept repeating themselves over and over in the poor little boy's head. *hugs him tightly before slapping him.*

Date: 2006-07-04 01:42 am (UTC)*nods* Roy really needs a hug.
Yeah... he needs smacked, but... he's just so fucked up, you really don't want to smack him, you just wanna cuddle him. The Roy issues and Batman issues and just issues issues on infinite repeat, yeah. He didn't know which way was up there for a while.
This was probably the second-most insistent plot-bunny I've ever had. First most was One of Those Nights.

Date: 2006-07-05 05:18 am (UTC)Unfortunately, he should probably have tried harder and now he's in trouble. But now I feel kinda bad for him. :)]
The dynamic between the two was really fascinating...it feels so wrong at first but the older/younger vibe works really well here.
I agree with the comment above about the costumes! Your love for them really comes through in all the loving details.

Date: 2006-07-05 05:41 am (UTC)He probably should have, and yeah, he sure as heck is in trouble.... eh. Don't bother.
Somewhere in a notebook I have Batman/Robin I porn that is not this wrong... but it was supposed to be fucked up. Dick has issues when Devin's writing him. This was about working those issues.
I just about wore out my mental thesaurus working for the right tone and pace and vibe for the two of them, and it makes me insanely glad that you caught it. *beams*
*happy, happy grinning* Yay! I hunted scans_daily for more time than I want to admit for scans of Ollie's costume to figure out how the hell to get inside it. *snort* What, me, obsessive? Naw, I don't have OCD.... Dick's suit, on the other hand, is described as one piece, so there has to be a zipper in there somewhere that he can reach on his own.

*cuddles Dick* Yes. Messed up covers it nicely.
*nodnod* Inheritance-Ollie is easy-easy-easy to hate for being a stupid irresponsible idiot.
Thanks!!

This damn bunny spawned a series, if you're interested.
